The Vasco da Gama Aquarium museum has its own collection - Vasco da Gama Aquarium Collection -, which has been permanently expanded and enriched with specimens of various species, especially marine fish from the indigenous and tropical fauna, birds, marine mammals, and malacological specimens.
In addition, the museum created a taxidermy laboratory where several national and foreign taxidermists got their training, preparing an extensive set of specimens, as well as countless reproductions in fibreglass and synthetic resins.
These pieces, which enrich the exhibition from a didactic and aesthetic point of view, have been used for exhibition and study purposes at the Vasco da Gama Aquarium and other institutions with great success, and the Vasco da Gama Aquarium has become a national reference in this area.
