Suggestions to turn a visit to the Maritime Museum into a special occasion:
- 1. Organise a discussion beforehand on what they will see based on the Museum's website, a Museum brochure or simply images that refer to the sea and maritime activities. Spice up your curiosity...
- 2. Based on your specific objectives, try to match the group's expectations to what they will find: a hall, a collection, a theme-based area or a specific work...
- 3. The Museum does not have a cloakroom or any other place to store visitors' belongings. Whenever possible, you should avoid carrying backpacks, umbrellas and other large items into the building.
- 4. Be strict about the behaviour to be observed during the visit: do not run, do not speak loudly, do not touch or tamper with parts, respect the instructions given by the guards. Contributing to the 'well-being' of the collections on display and of those who visit them is mandatory for those who like visiting museums. We also suggest using a pencil instead of a pen when taking notes, obviously for preservation reasons.
- 5. Visits with groups of children and young people should preferable take place in the morning: they are more receptive and calm. Take breaks to control signs of tiredness and regain energy.
- 6. After the visit, cast off and continue sailing: at home, at school, in the café, on the bus back home... Talking about what you have seen can contribute towards raising doubts, curiosities, questions you may want to share. If so, please contact us and we will get back to you on the next tide.
