Project title:
SKY65 - Training the staff of the Navy Planetarium to meet the needs and interests of the senior public.
Our Project:
To search for knowhow in similar European institutions of recognised quality, which integrate into their practice innovative methodologies/approaches with regard to the senior public;
This project will allow PM to take the first steps towards internationalization, namely through the establishment of a network of contacts that will make it viable, in the future, to carry out new projects and open the door for PM to receive professionals from other European countries who want to know our reality;
Coming into contact with other realities allows expanding knowledge on cultural diversity and improving language skills, particularly in the English language.
Project Objectives:
- Create a specific offer for the senior public, with wide dissemination in order to attract the attention of associations, universities and senior tourism agencies, as well as individual visitors in the 65+ age group;
- Achieve the short-term target of 5% senior visitors;
- Increase staff motivation and satisfaction by improving the quality of the service that is provided.
The most relevant themes addressed in our project:
- Intercultural, intergenerational and continuing education;
- Creativity and culture;
- European citizenship, values and democracy.
Project Duration:
- Total project duration: 36 months;
- Project start date: 1 June 2020;
- Project end date: 31 May 2023 (Note: Due to COVID-19, the project end date has been postponed twice).
Planned visits to European institutions:
- Annual ECSITE Conference 2022, in Heilbronn, Germany - 2-4JUN22:
Training event, keeping abreast of new trends/topics of interest at the level of European Science Centres;
- Job shadowing activity planned to take place at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw:
The aim is to accompany the programming, in terms of content, and to observe the way of communicating in the auditorium, preferably for the senior public.3;
- Effective communication course - Structured course;
- Job shadowing activity at the Berlin Planetarium - Zeiss Grobplanetarium (offers for senior citizens);
- Job shadowing activity at the City of Space in Toulouse (offers for senior public).
