Volunteers

A volunteer work experience at the Vasco da Gama Aquarium can be extremely rewarding, offering those interested the possibility of taking part in all the intense activities carried out 'behind the scenes' of this century-old institution to maintain the exhibition.

ACTIVITIES:

• Participating in maintenance activities to ensure the well-being of the live specimens on display (preparing food, feeding, cleaning aquariums, filters and tanks, setting up aquariums...) under the supervision of our technical assistants.

• On the first day of volunteering, the head of the Aquariology Service introduces the volunteer to one of our professional technicians who they should meet every day before starting their work and whenever they need assistance.

WORKING HOURS AND FREQUENCY:

• During normal working hours (9am-1pm, 2pm-6pm), on work days, to be agreed upon with the professional technician responsible for their supervision. We suggest starting early in the morning or in the afternoon.

• Any weekly frequency and daily schedule is accepted, from a minimum of 10 consecutive working days or 2 months, 1 day a week, as long as this is previously agreed upon with the technician responsible for their supervision.

• Any change to the previously agreed-upon schedule or frequency must be communicated to the supervising technician.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

• Age 16 and over.

• Signing a responsibility statement (which is signed by the parent or guardian in the case of children under the age of 18)

• Completing an identification and contact form.
